McIntyre, Barbara ...
The family of Barbara McIntyre (née Hardie) of London and formerly of Sarnia, announce her passing on Friday, September 20, 2019 at London University Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved husband John McIntyre (2018).  Loving mother and best mom ever of Laura, Ian (Jane), and Glen (Shauna).  Proud grandmother of Evan, Kate, Adeline, and Caelan.  Sister-in-law of Margaret Nichols and the late Mary Smith.  Predeceased by brothers-in-law Lloyd Nichols and Robert Smith.  Aunt of Larry Nichols.

Barbara was raised by her parents John Hardie and Madeline (MacLeod) Hardie in Quebec City.  She treasured summers and trips to Glengarry with the MacLeods and McCrimmons.  In her class at Queen's University she was one of two females who graduated in Honours Chemistry.  Following a year at Dow Chemical, Sarnia, she enjoyed teaching math and chemistry.  She was an avid girl guide leader for many years. Scottish country dancing and dragon boat racing were two of her favourite activities.

Barbara will always inspire us for her sheer will power and determination along with some luck to do whatever it takes to live a normal life following palliative bowel cancer surgery 28 years ago.  She dared to hope.  From her we are reminded to focus on what is important and not worry too much about the rest, how fortunate one is to have good health and the ability to live life to the fullest, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and routine cancer screening.  Thanks to all of her doctors and other health care professionals for their years of professional care and compassion.  We are truly grateful.

The family would appreciate donations to any of the cancer charities.  No visitation nor service is planned.  Barbara's ashes will be buried privately. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com
