It is with great sadness I heard of Peter's passing. I had gotten to know him over the past few months in a setting we both attended weekly. He was full of wisdom and had great concern for others. My sincere condolences to Peter's family. May he rest in peace.

I have known Blair, a friend to Peter, for years - and saw the notice on his fB wall.
As a stranger to his family, yet no stranger to grief, allow me to reach out with compassion in my heart to each heart touched by Peter's passing.

Dearest Jen and Family,
I’m so sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. My deepest condolences to you all. I still remember the first time I met Pete at Thomson House. It was a pleasure meeting him, all of you, and for many years after that meeting we had loads of fun and created fond memories.... magic punch is coming to mind. I’ll reflect on all the good times we shared together with a smile and a tear.
Love to you all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to all of Pete's family. I was very shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I met Peter on the basketball court in grade 7 and we went to high school together. We didn't see much of each other after that but did connect at a Hip concert in 2016. My thoughts are with all his family and friends.

I am very saddened to learn of Pete's passing and send deep condolences to his entire family. We were close in graduate school and a group of us had many (mis)adventures on the baseball field, at Thomson House and at the swimming pool at the Allen Memorial. Pete had a great sense of humour and was always up for fun times, but he was also very sensitive and empathic to the needs of others. A group of his classmates from McGill Psychology are working on setting up a memorial studentship of some kind in his name. Pete cared so much about teaching and his students we thought this would be a fitting tribute.

I send my deepest condolences to the Hoaken family. Although Pete and I had not spoken in many years, I will always cherish the fun and amazing times that we shared in graduate school, including Thomson House, softball, the pool behind the Allen, BBQs, playing Axis and Allies, downhill skiing trip, roadtrip to PEI for our friend's wedding, stimulating conversations, and otherwise just hanging out. Pete was so passionate, energetic, and full of life that it is hard to fathom him passing away. I often say how graduate school was like an extended childhood for me, and Pete was a special part of those years. Rest in peace, brother.

I have just found out about Pete's passing as I was unable to reach him on LinkedIn and a Google search sadly led me this page.
I would like to pass on my sincere sympathy and belated condolences to Pete's family and friends and also pay tribute to Pete.
I met Pete backpacking in Lyon, France exactly 23 years ago on Bastille Day 1999, and he was an absolute inspiration to me. As a novice backpacker the Youth Hostel experience was a little intimidating to me but Pete was one of the first people I met and his energy, enthusiasm and leadership soon saw him gathering a group of us together for an Alfresco meal of bread, cheese and red wine sourced from a local convenience store and then head off into town to enjoy the celebrations. It was a fantastic night on the town which I wouldn't have experienced without Pete's encouragement and enthusiasm.
As an experienced traveller, over the next couple of days Pete gave me some much needed advice about 'life on the road' which ensured that when we parted company a couple of days later - he headed for Dijon and I went to Marseille - I was better equipped to enjoy the weeks ahead.
Thanks Pete! You were an inspiration!
