My deepest condolences to you Barb. Eric and you were such good friends and we had so many good times together-vacations, dinners, motorcycle trips. So many good memories to treasure. He will be missed.

We met over 50 years ago and our friendship grew from there. Our children called you Uncle Eric The many trips we made together, Williamsburg and Sugercreek and the many New Years we brought in together, will always remain with us. He was always there to give us a helping hand and for that we will always be thankful. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Eric Johnson…….. remembrance

It is impossible to begin a tribute in any other way than to say “Eric and Barb”, which in itself is perhaps the greatest testament to Eric who was besotted from the get go with his Barbara. Their example as true partners is inspirational.

My earliest recollection of Eric was as members of the 43rd Boy Scout Troop, a place where early bonds were formed and matured through participation in the Rover Crew. As everyone’s’ lives got busy and ‘Scout Shorts’ were left behind the kinships formed with Rover’s and partners always remained.

Reunions provided opportunities for spouses and girlfriends to bond over wine and giggles frequently at the expense of the guys who were playing poker, or more correctly in my case swiftly losing my allotted $10.00 so the others could get serious about cards. I don’t remember Eric as an avid poker player but rather like me a spectator enjoying a beer and kibitzing on the sidelines.

Eric was a man of many talents that he willingly shared with others and in my case home renovation skills. Perhaps our east London roots along with very tight budgets made us ‘do it yourself’ practitioners. It is not possible for me to wire a receptacle, a switch or sweat a copper joint without Eric’s tutelage being forefront in my thinking. In 1976 Eric and Barb travelled to our aged house in Toronto and Eric and I completely rewired the old knob and tube wiring while Barbara and Nancy disappeared to the shops on Yonge Street, especially the paint, wallpaper and decorating stores.

In more recent years it was always a great pleasure to have a drop in visit from Eric and Barb as they travelled to Prince Edward County past our place at Presqu’ile. A steady friend who provided much appreciated support in darker times and celebrated happy ones.

Nancy and I will miss your presence Eric, but never forget your friendship and kindness. We shall do our best in your honour to support Barbara in any way we can.

Rest in peace….. Steve and Nancy Sinclair
