I was saddened to learn of John's passing. The last time I spoke with John and Susan were at Carm Foran's Birthday celebration this past summer. I had the good fortune to photograph John and Susan at this event. I always remembered John as being a good athlete in high school with a dry and witty sense of humour. My condolences to Susan and family.

Our hearts go out to Susan, Kevin and Nadine, and John's entire extended family, on this sudden loss. I've known John since high school when we traveled on school sports trips together. He was loved by all the Foran family and had an especially close relationship with my mom and brothers. It was always wonderful to see John and Sue most summers at gatherings in northern NB when we all returned home. He will be missed. John's sudden passing is a reminder to us all that tomorrow is never promised and to make the most of today, which John did. Hugs and prayers to all.

Sue, Nadine and Kevin, John’s parents and siblings.
Chris and I send our deepest condolences. I also met John in high school. He was a great athlete no matter what sport he pursed. Our friendship continued for many years after. He was a very generous man. John occasionally enjoyed treating his friends by picking up the beer tab following a round of golf. However, the girls had to sit and listen to the guys embellishing their round. The best part though, was the laughter in the clubhouse, that was infectious. We all enjoyed giving each other a hard time ie, too many practice swings, swinging and missing the ball, or just duffing the shot. Even an awesome shot could be criticized, all in fun. Will miss those fun times with you and Sue, and seeing you at Pat and Kevin’s cottages. Will continue to raise our glasses after our round and cheers to you.

We have known John for a few years as we enjoyed golf once a week with him in the Hickory Ridge men’s league. John always had a great joke or story, many of the blue variety, which kept us smiling and laughing. After golf we’d go to eat (no onions please!) and often played pool afterwards even after golf season. John would often tell us stories of his world travels during his working career and the many prestigious golf courses he played while entertaining clients. So anytime John mentioned a golf course our usual response was “We didn’t know there was a paper mill there.” We quickly learned he was quite the sports aficionado and knew many player details, sports history and current news. He rooted for the Ottawa Senators but we accepted him anyways. The way John played golf we could see he was a strong competitor– he regularly beat us despite his health challenges. More so, we knew John as a very good man and friend.

We will miss him greatly.

Your golf buddies,
Rudy, Mike and Gerry
