Dear Janet and Doug and family, I am so sorry for your loss of Jim. Jim was a friend to so many, a true servant leader, humble, faithful. It has been a real privilege to know him for more than 20 years at L'Arche with Janet. Attentive, caring, supportive, encouraging ,proud " daddy" We enjoyed him sharing his many adventures, his stories, his photos. A quiet presence in our community circle is being missed. Prayers for your family.

I first met Jim during the days when we were working to get Cana house up and running. His love for Janet and his willingness to help in any ways he could were always there. I am grateful to have shared life’s path with him. Many blessings to a wonderful father and friend.

Remembering dear Jim - always a warm smile, always eager to assist, always enjoyed conversation over a scotch and loved to travel and photograph. That is how we remember dear Jim!
He travelled to Africa with me four times and shared many happy times - from climbing the dunes in Namibia, doing a road trip throughout Namibia, visiting the Okavango Delta, Seeing wildlife in Etosha, Chobe Ntl. Park and on the Chobe River and all through South Africa, including Zululand and a tenting experience in Kruger! Jim shared every January 1st with us at our home so we could reminisce on the fun times we had on our journeys and throughout the year. My husband Doug will also miss his summer afternoon chats over a drink on our patio!
Going to really miss you pal and thanks for all your assistance at the camera club over the years.

I work as a nurse in CCTC and Jim has been one or our volunteers as long as I have been here. He will be missed and will be warmly remembered by all of us who had to pleasure to work with him as he supported our patients and their families at such difficult times. My condolences to all of you.

I only had the opportunity to meet Jim a few times when I visit my mother in London but I can say he was always the first to help us capture a family moment together. I appreciate how much time Jim spend with my mother and how happy he made her. He will be missed

Jim was a truly great man. He was a wonderful, loving and supportive "step" father to me for 38 years. I will miss his gentle and caring manner. While my mother Gloria Chute has been in Ottawa due to ill health for the past eight years Jim remained very close to our family. We were all deeply saddened by his passing. He will be loved and remembered always.

Janet, Douglas and family
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Even though we didn't have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Jim principally because of distance, we remember him fondly as a family member who made the effort to stay in contact and, when together, was a pleasure to be around. His dedication to Janet's well-being and L'Arche was a hallmark of his life.
Rest in peace, Jim.
