(Wednesday, August 22, 2012)

Dear Kingsley, Nancy, John, Anne, and families,
Our love, thoughts, and deepest sympathy are with you at this time. Your parents were such dear friends of the Stuart and Lindblad families. Through many of the happiest and saddest of times that have spanned over fifty years, we have shared laughter, tears, and many hours together. As we remember those times, so many memories come flooding back. During the past seven years, David and I shared many hours on the phone. He was always a great conversationalist, never at a loss for words, full of understanding, and with an unfailing sense of humour. His years living at Chartwell enabled him to continue to enjoy a good measure of independence, participate in many activities, in which he excelled, as well as mastering many computer skills with much enthusiasm.
As the first resident to occupy Chartwell, he contributed to the enjoyment of the other residents by leading church services and prayers, sharing his photos of world travels, and documenting through his photographic abilty the ongoing daily happenings and events at Chartwell. We marvelled at how he courageously continued for seven years without his beloved Jean. His mind was so alert, his body so agile, for one his age. So it was with much concern and sadness we learned of the decline in his health in recent months..how suddenly a life can change so drastically. David is now free of pain and suffering and is at last at peace. We shall miss him greatly. For those of us whose lives David has touched with his kindness, empathy, and great sense of humour, we feel blessed. His years in the ministry in England, Plaster Rock N.B., Windsor, Don Mills, Dorval and London will have made a difference to many, in ways we may never know. At this time of sadness we can celebrate with love and joy a life well lived.

To the Irvine family, may your happiest memories bring you comfort in the days ahead as you remember your dear father, grandfather, and great grandpa
Much love to you all,
Flemming and Gill Lindblad and Gwen Stuart
