Dietrich “Dick” is now reunited with his wife of 64 years, Christine, who died August 24th of this year. Loving father of Deborah “Debbie” Hotham and her husband Wayne, Denise Jajal and her husband Agrim, and Bryan Kussner and his wife Rebecca “Becky”. Cherished Opa of Derrick Eus-Hotham (Janelle), Leslie Hotham, Hannah Kussner and Jacob Kussner and Great-Opa of Jones. Dick will also be missed by his brothers Erhard “Chris” Kussner and his wife Irene, Hartmut “Art” Kussner and his wife Shirley, Detlev “Mike” Kussner and his wife Kristina, brother-in-law Peter Ede and his wife Lorna, sister-in-law Monica Ede, and his many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Predeceased by his brother-in-law David Ede. Dietrich immigrated to Canada in 1954, sponsored by Calvary United Church through the World Council of Churches, where he later met his beloved wife. Together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage, raising their children with love, guidance, faith and strong family values. He was a proud supporter of his children in everything they pursued and found great joy in watching them grow and succeed. His love extended deeply to his grandchildren and especially to his great-grandson, who brought him endless delight. Deeply proud of his heritage, Dietrich even wrote his own memoirs and loved sharing his life story with others, passing down wisdom and memories that reflected his journey. A faithful and dedicated member of Calvary United Church, he served in many roles over the years – as an elder, Sunday school teacher, and active committee member – and there wasn’t a corner of the church he didn’t know. Known for his “fix-it” mentality, he was always looking to figure out how to repair or improve something, constantly problem-solving and trying new ideas. He also cherished time spent at the family cottage on Lake Huron, where he enjoyed peaceful days surrounded by nature. A gifted artist with a keen eye, Dietrich appreciated beauty in the world around him and expressed it through his creativity. As the owner of a well-established painting and decorating business for over 60 years, he was highly regarded in his community for his skill, dedication, and craftsmanship. He loved the outdoors and was happiest when puttering around, always keeping busy with projects large and small. As a New Year’s Eve baby, he loved celebrating his birthday and hosting a party to mark both occasions. The family wishes to extend a warm thank you to the staff of Collingwood General for their compassion and support. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 7:00-9:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Calvary United Church, 290 Ridout Street South, London on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 am. Sonia Lynette Faremo
FAREMO, Sonia Lynette…
Sonia Lynette Faremo, born in New Westminster (Vancouver), B.C. in 1964, passed away in London, Ontario on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Sonia is predeceased by her parents Lorna (2017, nee Ratcliffe) and Arne Sr (1975).
Sonia was a genuinely kind, very gentle, and modest person. Never one to sing her own praises many might not know that she obtained a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from McGill University and three other university degrees in psychology, special education, and educational technology. She co-authored numerous articles and conference presentations mainly about medical reasoning and problem solving and medical education. She was for a time a Research Professor at the Centre for Medical Education (now the Institute of Health Sciences Education) at McGill University. Later she was the Research Officer in the Faculty of Education at Western University, as well, she worked with researchers at the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University in Alberta.
Prior to her work in academia she was a special education teacher and helped students with special needs and disabilities. Pursuing this line of work brought her to Montreal. An adventurous 20-something Sonia packed her bags and crossed the country by train. This same sense of adventure had taken her to Europe with some friends and then some solo travel after completing her first degree. There she met her father’s family in Norway – a cousin and his wife then visited her many years later when she and Andrew lived in Calgary. Her travels in Europe also led her to assist a Romanian family to come to Canada.
Having lived in BC, Quebec, Alberta and Ontario and travelling with her brother Arne through the Atlantic provinces she experienced much of Canada.
Those she met and befriended during her time were fortunate to have her in their lives.
As a selfless person she elected to be an organ donor and has given the gift of life to several people.
A visitation for her will be held at A. Millard George Funeral Home, London. Cremation will follow and she will be buried in Vancouver with her parents following a service to be held there.

ROBINSON, Gerald “Jerry” Victor…
Passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025 in his 87th year. He was born November 1, 1937, in Woodstock, Ontario to Victor and Mary Robinson. Beloved brother of Dennis Robinson (Cathy) and sister Maxine Onishenko (Walt). He will be dearly missed by his brother in law Paul (Anne), sister in law Diane and many nephews and nieces.
Jerry married Marlene on October 6, 1962. Together, they became the parents of two sets of twin boys that kept him very busy throughout life. He was adamant they see Canada coast to coast in their tent trailer that brought fond memories. His love of sports got his kids involved in hockey, golf, soccer and baseball. Whether he was managing a soccer team or catching one of their high school games he always tried to be there.
For the majority of his career Jerry worked for DH Howden in London Ontario. He enjoyed those years working in multiple roles travelling the globe as a Manager and Director in Sales, Marketing and Exporting. Jerry and Marlene eventually moved to Port Stanley to start the next chapter of their life. Jerry loved his 20 years in the area and throughout that time became one of the largest realtors in Port Stanley. Work was always a true passion of his, something he passed on to his boys.
Outside of work, Jerry enjoyed curling, golf, reading and watching sports. Summer days were listening to the Tigers on the radio, the aroma of a cigar and overdone charcoal hamburgers. Winters consisted of curling Bonspiels throughout southern Ontario and Hockey Night in Canada crowded around the one TV in the household.
We wanted to give a special thank you to all the staff at Ashwood Manor and Kensington Village for their support over the last several years.
Our father will be missed by all those that he’s left behind. He faced life’s challenges with strength and courage and taught us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. We’ll miss you Dad.
